THEATRE FITNESS

Fitness for Musical Theatre

A dance fitness program for musical theatre enthusiasts and aspiring performers. Theatre Fitness is a cardio class with progressive choreography that builds into full routines. It trains aerobic capacity, singing under fatigue, quick choreography recall, and projection. Each release brings a variety of dance techniques and genres like jazz, Latin, modern, Fosse, hip hop, tap, and more! This class turns a “triple threat” into a “quadruple threat”. You’ll sing, dance, act, and be FIT!

THE PROBLEMS

Singing and Dancing

After weeks of vocal rehearsals, your students are ready for choreo, and all the vocal technique and training goes out the window! It is difficult to sing and dance simultaneously.

Limited Time

Musical Theatre students seeking to add fitness or dance training into their schedule are already too busy with play practice to invest the time into a dance studio that requires recitals and multiple classes of their own.

The Audition

You’re walking into that audition prepped with 16 bars and NAIL it, then comes the dance portion to which you are not prepared and only have minutes to learn and perform.

Fitness isn't fun

Not everyone enjoys sports and fitness. The weight room, treadmill, or gym are a far cry away from the stage.

T-FIT IS THE SOLUTION...

Improve Aerobic Capacity!

Improve Aerobic Capacity!
Between the repetition, the singing, and the energy of the music, you’ve got yourself a cardio blasting workout! Watch out! Theatre Fitness creates not just “triple threats” but “quadruple threats”! They can SING, DANCE, ACT, and they will be FIT!

Singing under Fatigue!

A unique aspect to T-Fit is the layering in of vocal training. We train lower abdominal breathing, breath budgeting, and sound placement techniques during class. Have you ever heard of a hybrid dance and vocal coaching session before? This is it!

Improve Dance Technique!

T-Fit incorporates dance technique training into simple learnable steps. Each release focuses on a different genre or style of dance like Modern, Jazz, Tap, Ballroom, Latin, Hip Hop, Fosse, and more! This will equip students with the experience of moving in multiple disciplines ready to tap, waltz, salsa, or swing from trees like an ape if necessary!

Quick Choreography Recall!

T-Fit builds upon a combination layer by layer; perfectly synced with the music. The repetitious movement encourages participants to move through, feel, and memorize movement patterns that are linked harmoniously with the structure of each song.

Build
Confidence!

This class requires “leaning into” movement that might not settle into the body the first time. Just like an audition, there is no time for doubt. Students just keep moving, improvising, and performing; to stick with it and see the struggle through. This learning technique changes the way the brain responds to nerve-wracking flight/fight situations.

TRAINING FOR THE WINNING EDGE...

Musical Theatre presents a unique challenge. Dance choreography often falls in the Anaerobic category (can only be sustained for short periods of time), but adding in vocals requires high aerobic capacity (OXYGEN!)

  • Simulate a workout similar to the real thing.

  • Anaerobic training with Highs and Lows.

  • Allow short breaks to train recovery.

  • Make them SING!
